Deep Fried Turkey

  • 1 Turkey, 10 - 20lbs
  • 2 3/4 gallons cooking oil, preferably peanut oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  1. Start with a completely thawed or fresh turkey.
  2. Add cooking oil to fill line. Heat to 375 degrees F.
  3. While the oil is heating make sure turkey is completely dry inside and out.
  4. Prepare your rub, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Mix.
  5. Sprinkle rub on cold turkey to cover both sides. Rub.
  6. Once oil is heated place turkey into frier basket and slowly lower turkey into frier. Set timer, typically 4 minutes per pound.
  7. When cooking complete, slowly lift turkey out of frier and let stand for 20 minutes. Carve and serve.
